It's Starting to Get Hot | Posted: 2005-05-15 19:20:46 | 8797 hits | View in Hi-Fi Mode

So, I've started running with the Camelback.

It hit 101 degrees today, but at 6:30 am this morning, before it got too hot, I took on South Mountain's Desert Classic trail. It was brutal.

I didn't manage to make it through the entire 18 miles -- now that I know the park actually opens at 5:00 that might be possible -- but I did enough to feel pretty satisfied. Something around 12-14 miles, I'm guessing. I need to find an accurate map of South Mountain or, even better, just finish that trail both ways, end to end.

It's going to be tough to do this summer. By 9:00, it was starting to get pretty warm.

Time to find my way back to the ASU pool, I guess. And back to the dreaded season of pre-dawn adventures in Papago park.

So... which race to try and run next? The SF Marathon? Portland? New York? We'll have to see...
